Since Selena Gomez hooked up with Justin Bieber all eyes are suddenly on her, and women of all ages are asking, how does she stay so slim and fit? There has been a lot of mixed reports about her in the press in recent months, with news that she is malnourished and possibly under-eating just to stay thin.
The Texan born singer-actress has admitted on a radio talk show that her eating habits have been bad and that she eats a lot of junk food and nothing much that is nutritious. This led her to becoming ill and being hospitalised, most likely as a result of complete fatigue caused by poor diet.
Lots of Vitamins and Healthy Fresh Food
Her diet now consists of a lot of greens, cheese and fruits. She is now following a healthy and balanced diet with the help of her mother.
She is also being careful to get more protein which is vital for maintaining organ health as well as muscle health. She is eating egg omelettes for breakfast and chicken salads for lunch, along with pasta dishes to increase energy.
Her diet is still not completely orthodox though. One Twitter update (14 March 2011) simply stated “I love fried pickles“.
Selena Gomez’s Gym Workouts
Selena attributes much of her physical appearance to her age. She is not a great fan of exercising, but as her diet does not see her overeating it means that she does not gain a lot of weight. A combination of the the stresses of her job and a hectic schedule mean that she does not eat much and also burns a lot of calories off.
She does go to the gym for cardio workouts to help increase her strength. She is very fortunate to not need to exercise hard to burn off excess weight, but, her diet has left her malnourished in the past. One of the most important benefits of exercise is that it allows you to consume more calories which means it is easier to get a balanced diet.
So exercise for Selena is running, cycling and cross trainer workouts, plus dance workouts and aerobics. She has no desire to put on additional muscle so there is no weight training and bodyweight training is kept to a minimum too.
Really, if you want to get a body like Selena you need to learn how to eat a healthy diet but to limit calories. To have a slim and healthy body you really just need to do this, along with a little exercise.
Bear in mind that Selena has a very hectic schedule, with lots of travel, plus tours, dance workouts, studio work and a lot of interviews and meetings. All this work burns off a lot of calories, far more than you are likely to burn off when doing an office job or looking after the house. In short, Selena Gomes is in great shape due to a combination of a healthy and active lifestyle and a (now) healthy diet.

For exercise, do 45 minutes a day of whatever you enjoy – running, dance, swimming, sports, aerobics, weight training etc.

If you are running and doing kickboxing, then the problem must lie in the “eat sort of healthily” – what do you mean by “sort of”? Sounds like you are aware of where the problem lies. Eat a healthy diet, 3 meals a day, no sweet snacks, no soda / soft drinks.

Hi I’m Liz and i’m 14. I’m around 5’5 or 5’6 most people would call me fit and have a good sized body. But i have very large, strong legs (probably due to playing soccer almost year round and softball) and i HATE them. Any ideas on how to slim them down? That is a tricky one Liz. Do you really want to reduce the muscles in your legs? This will probably impair your sports performance. Maybe go running more to burn off more intramuscular fat.

Why does everyone want to look like Selena? She has no muscles and yes she has a little belly on her. Stop trying to be skinny and like Selena and get fit and be like yourself. This article said she eats really healthy, no she really doesn’t, she eats out quite a bit, she just does not consume very many calories. P.S. people all you have to do to get fit not skinny, not fat, and not bulky is say active and as much as you want of the healthy stuff. Another tip try only sitting down during school, not at home, or if you can only sit for about 2 and 1/2 hours a day… and eat lots of fruits vegetables. Good luck!
Hi Ariana, you need to focus on eating healthy and getting active. Do some form of exercise every single day and never eat junk food. Only drink water. Be patient.

I’m 16, 5’6”, and 135 lbs. I eat pretty healthy – no sugar, little bread, lots of protein and veggies, and exercise for about an hour 3 or 4 days a week. But I cannot seem to get fit. I don’t want to be ‘skinny’, just toned. My thighs and stomach are my ‘problem areas.’ What type of exercises should I do to address them? And are there certain foods I should really be focusing on to flatten my stomach and tone my thighs?

Well, it is about the amount you eat. Eating healthy means eating healthy foods, avoiding bad foods and not eating too many calories. Habits form early in our lives, to stay fit and healthy you have to essentially reprogram yourself. This is possible through practice, patience, time…. i..e just keep making the effort, never give up.
Hi Adelyn, I assume that when you say that you cannot get fit, you mean lose fat? If you are exercising well 3 or 4 times a week you should be getting fitter. The problem is most likely that you need to look at your diet again. To lose fat you need to do more cardio and eat fewer calories. To tone thighs squats and lunges are best. To flatten your stomach, it goes back to diet but also some core exercises will help, like crunches, side bends, bicycle crunches, reverse crunches, back extensions, weighted front squats.

Hi, im 5’1″ and weight 112 pounds. I have been eating healthy( fruits veggies) and not eating sugars and breads but I can’t lose my muffin top! I run 30 minutes a day and do ab exorcise but nothing works! I know for a fact I eat healthy I eat 3x a day, healthy low calorie snack between them and I still have some belly fat!!
Hi Molly, you need to eat healthy and exercise more. There is no exercise that will reduce just belly fat. Get fit, be active and your body will tone up.

Hi,I have just started my plan and i will stick to it. However when you talk about swimming, running, sports activies, i can’t do them, im only 11 and my mum can’t take me somewhere often cuz she has to look after my sister. what should i do? i do excerising techniques like sit ups, gymnastics, crunches etc. but are you sure that would be enough? i would love to go out and do sport but I CAN’T! its not fair…:( my mum wouldn’t let me out on my own( only with my big sister but she is not that home often..)

Do some bodyweight exercises. Don’t worry, your muscles are not going to get bulky, not unless you are a man and eating a load of protein.

Hey, the Answer is yes and no. Yes because there are clubs but all the spaces have been filled up. No because there are no more clubs to do. My school doesn’t do a lot of clubs. I am in a primary school by the way.
