Abbey Clancy Loses Baby Weight – 7 Week Workout and Diet

In just 7 weeks Abbey Clancy has lost all her baby weight. She is 25 years old and a first time mom. Here transformation in such a short time is impressive. She is married to English soccer player Peter Crouch.

However, a woman should not put on a lot of weight during a healthy pregnancy. It is common for women to actually gain too much weight. The old expression “eating for two” has been proven be health scientists to be poor advice.

Saying that, getting a flat stomach in 7 weeks is still a great achievement for Abbey, a big well done from us! So, how did she do it?

Regular Gym Workouts

Her method was simple really – plenty of intensive gym workouts. Every day one or two workouts. Here is a suggested workout plan to lose weight fast. You exercise twice every day for maximum fat burning;

  • Morning Day 1: 45 minutes cardio on a cross trainer, rower, treadmill or go jogging
  • Afternoon Day 1: 30 minutes light – medium weight training covering all the major muscle groups, just going easy on the squats / leg press as you need to be able to use your legs the next day
  • Morning Day 2: 30 minutes cardio with 20 minutes steady then in the last 10 minutes five 30 second sprints followed by 90 seconds at recovery pace (slow).
  • Afternoon Day 2: Bodyweight circuits: Push ups, crunches, the plank, leg raises, lunges, mountain climbers.

Repeat this 2 day workout every two days, you can take a break 1 day a week if you like to keep the same routine on each day.

Aim: To get fitter and stronger. Do not watch the calorie counter on the machines. When you exercise with calories in mind you rarely push yourself as hard as when you just focus on getting fitter and stronger.

Abbey Clancy’s Strange Diet?

There was a report in the Sun newspaper that she was eating Rice Krispies to lose weight. This probably means that she was also on a restricted diet. This is really not a healthy way to lose weight, and especially for a new mother as you need to replenish lost minerals and vitamins and recover energy.

If you are doing a lot of exercise it is important that you maintain carbohydrate levels, although really if you are not exercising in the morning then a high GI breakfast (i.e. Rice Krispies) is not a great idea.

Better to have some oats so that the energy (and sugar) is slowly released throughout the morning. Also, there is a huge amount of sugar in most processed breakfast cereals.

To lose weight you absolutely must reduce calories, but rapid weight loss in not healthy and if your diet lacks essential nutrients (proteins and fats as well as vitamins and minerals) it will lead to long term health problems.
